Pre-launch data-handling summary
This draft updates the app’s earlier privacy description to account for optional image and research features in the development code. The final release policy is still under review.
Your journal and on-device features
Recordings, transcripts, entries, photos, and saved images are held in the app’s local journal. Voice transcription requires on-device recognition. Supported entry analysis uses Apple’s on-device intelligence. Optional reminders are scheduled locally. The existing app privacy document states that the app contains no advertising or analytics trackers.
Optional image creation
If you choose to generate an image, the app passes a prompt to Apple’s Image Playground interface and saves the image you select. Processing follows the Apple feature and device configuration; this draft does not promise that every image-generation operation stays entirely on your device. The current code excludes external-provider styles where that control is available.
Optional Dream Bank contributions
A development feature can send a dream to a configured research service only when you choose to contribute. The payload can include dream text, date, mood, themes, language, a generated contributor identifier, and a text embedding when present. Known names are replaced, but distinctive details may still identify you. Do not assume contributed text is anonymous.
This feature is unavailable when its service is not configured. Its operator, retention, deletion process, and final consent wording must be confirmed before public activation.
Your choices and Apple services
Microphone and speech access support recording and transcription. The system photo picker lets you attach a photo. Sharing uses the iOS share sheet at your direction. Apple processes any enabled Gossamer Plus purchases. Copies you share or retain in device backups are subject to your choices and the selected service’s policies.
Before release
The final policy must confirm which optional features ship and the relevant processing and retention details. The earlier blanket statement that no content ever leaves the device should not be used for a release that enables these optional features.
